Computing Environments for Data Analysis Part 1 : Introduction
نویسندگان
چکیده
This is the first in a series of papers on aspects of modem computing environments that are relevant to statistical data analysis. We argue that a network of graphics workstations is far superior to conventional batch or time-sharing computers as an environment for interactive data analysis. The first paper in the series provides a general introduction a&motivation for more detailed considerations of hardware and software in subsequent parts. Portions of this paper presented at the 17th Symposium on the Interface of Computer Science and Statistics, Lexington, Kentucky, March 17-19, 1985. l Work supported in part by the Department of Energy, contract D&AC03-76SF00515, by the NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, by the Office of Naval Research contract NOOOl~83-K-0472 and grant NOOO14-83-G-0121, and by the U.S. Army Research Office contract DAAG2482-K-0056.

Energy Aware Resource Management of Cloud Data Centers
Cloud Computing, the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Virtualization technology forms a key concept for new cloud computing architectures. The data centers are used to provide cloud services burdening a significant...
متن کاملA context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments
Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...
متن کاملA semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments
Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...
متن کاملComputing Environments for Data Analysis Part 3 : Programming Environments ∗
This is the third in a series of papers on aspects of modern computing environments that are relevant to statistical data analysis. In this paper, we discuss programming environments. In particular, we argue that integrated programming environments (for example, Lisp and Smalltalk environments) are more appropriate as a base for data analysis than conventional operating systems (for example Unix).
متن کاملAssessment Methodology for Anomaly-Based Intrusion Detection in Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has become an attractive target for attackers as the mainstream technologies in the cloud, such as the virtualization and multitenancy, permit multiple users to utilize the same physical resource, thereby posing the so-called problem of internal facing security. Moreover, the traditional network-based intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are ineffective to be deployed in the cloud...
